Tenis Con Alas – Multinational Sports Recycling Partnership Comes to Los Angeles for El Clásico de México 2023
In a groundbreaking multinational sports recycling initiative, “Tenis Con Alas” or “Shoes with Wings”, has been established to promote the responsible recycling of sports sneakers, shoes, and clothing. This innovative collaboration brings together Club América, Fundación Televisa, and Chairwoman Charlene Nijmeh of the Green Education Foundation in a united effort to combat environmental pollution and give used textiles and old shoes a second life, akin to metaphorical wings.
Tenis Con Alas encourages sports fans to make a positive impact by donating their used shoes and apparel to the Neighborhood Donation Recycling Station (NDRS) instead of discarding them, reducing the amount of waste ending up in landfills. This initiative also addresses the alarming environmental impact of the fashion industry, recognized as one of the largest contributors to pollution worldwide. By reusing and recycling textiles and shoes, we reduce the demand for new production and help mitigate the industry’s ecological footprint by promoting a more sustainable approach to clothing consumption. Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
As part of this initiative, a special “El Clásico de México” themed Neighborhood Donation Recycling Station (NDRS) will be available for the public to donate used shoes and clothes at the iconic Rose Bowl Stadium, located at Club America’s Fan Fest on lot H in Los Angeles. This exceptional opportunity coincides with the highly anticipated Clásico de México soccer game taking place on October 15, 2023.
El Clásico de México is the pinnacle of Mexican sports, featuring the largest rivalry between Mexico City’s Club América and the Chivas de Guadalajara. This historic matchup often garners massive attention and is celebrated as one of the most significant sporting events in Mexico. The last time this match was held in Los Angelas was in 2018 at the LA Coliseum, which drew over 60,000 enthusiastic fans to the downtown venue.
Club América is also hosting a special promotion for those who contribute the most to the Tenis Con Alas campaign. The top ten contributors who donate the most used shoes and clothing at the El Clásico-themed NDRS will be rewarded with an exclusive opportunity to “live an experience with the team.” Reach out to Club América for more details.
The new NDRS at Rose Bowl Stadium has officially opened its doors, offering sports enthusiasts and the community at large the opportunity to contribute to this transformative recycling movement.
